Maegan Giroux

Maegan Giroux (she/her) is an passionate instructional coach, dedicated to empowering educators across all levels to excel in their teaching practice. With a specialized focus on literacy and numeracy, she walks alongside teachers as they implement dynamic initiatives to enhance student learning. With a rich background spanning from Kindergarten to grade 12, Maegan brings a wealth of experience to her current roles, with a current focus on her role as a grade 6/7 and Kindergarten teacher.
Central to Maegan's approach is her unwavering commitment to fostering a growth mindset, embracing productive struggle, and cultivating Thinking Classrooms where students thrive. Her influence extends far as she has provided guidance to educators in over 60 classrooms across diverse demographics, empowering them to establish their own dynamic learning environments.
As a vital member of the BTC Canada team, Maegan shares her expertise through workshops and talks across North America, championing the principles of Building Thinking Classrooms. Complementing her professional endeavors, she is currently immersed in her master's thesis at the University of Regina, where her passion lies in challenging power dynamics within mathematics classrooms.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Maegan is a co-author with Peter Liljedahl on the influential book, "Mathematics Tasks for the Thinking Classroom, Grades K-5” (Corwin, 2024), solidifying her commitment to shaping the future of education through innovative practices and collaborative scholarship.
