Dr. Kimberly Rimbey (she/her), is a lifelong teacher, leader, and learner, whose heart’s work centers on equipping teachers and fostering a continuous love for teaching and learning. As an active member of the Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) professional development team, Kim’s journey into transformative classroom experiences has been marked by a profound commitment to reshaping educational paradigms.

With over 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and mathematics leader, Kim understands the pulse of the classroom intimately. Her evolution into becoming a BTC advocate stems from the recognition that education needs a paradigm shift. Kim's hands-on experience allows her to empathize with educators as they embark on their BTC journey. Her pragmatic, direct presentation style brings authenticity to adult learning experiences, introducing educators to the impactful BTC practices that foster critical thinking and student engagement.

Through dynamic workshops and collaborative sessions, Kim witnesses classrooms evolve into centers of curiosity, agency, and joy. This firsthand experience reinforces her belief in the potential of every learner and the transformative power teachers possess. Kim's extensive background in instructional design, curriculum frameworks, and effective coaching models lays the groundwork for professional learning that unites leaders and teachers, creating a shared vision for educational excellence.

Beyond her BTC work, Kim also serves as the Chief Learning Officer and CEO for KP Mathematics. She is National Board Certified in Early Adolescent Mathematics and a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching, Kim has authored numerous publications, including Meaningful Small Groups in Math, Grades K-5 (Corwin 2022), the Mastering Math Manipulatives series (Corwin 2021), The Amazing Ten Frame Series (KP Mathematics), and Math Power: Simple Solutions for Mastering Math (Rodel Foundation of Arizona, 2014).

With a diverse educational background, including a Ph.D. in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction, Kim combines her expertise to enhance BTC facilitation. Based in Phoenix, AZ, she continues to inspire educators and learners with her dynamic approach, dedicated to transforming teaching practices and nurturing a love for lifelong learning.
