Nova Katz (she/her) is an international educator, Math Coach, and National Equity Project Fellow dedicated to ensuring that mathematics is never a barrier to opportunity. Driven by a vision for equitable mathematics education, she partners with educators worldwide to build classrooms where every student is positioned as a capable mathematical thinker.
As a member of the European Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) professional development team, Nova brings a comparative perspective shaped by her leadership of mathematics initiatives in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Her coaching experience spans from supporting individual teachers to serving as a Training Specialist for a large urban district. In her role as Math Coach at The American School in London, she supports teachers in designing rigorous instruction for diverse learners representing 58 nations. Whether modeling lessons or facilitating workshops, she works alongside educators to create environments where student thinking is visible, valued, and central to learning.
A natural systems-thinker, Nova excels at connecting classroom practice with large-scale change. She has designed and led school- and district-wide initiatives and, as Program Chair for the international Building Thinking Classrooms Conference, helped shape the professional learning vision for thousands of educators worldwide. A sought-after speaker, she regularly presents at major conferences such as NCSM and NCTM, consistently working to create a more just and engaging world of mathematics for all.
